Pet Adoptions

It is an unfortunate fact that our working life exposes us to many cruelties, abuse and welfare cases involving animals.  Sadly, many many healthy animals are euthanased routinely at animal shelters and vet clinics due to sad circumstances.

As part of our commitment to community service, we conduct a "Pet Adoption Programme" at our clinics.  Most of these cases involve charity and welfare kittens.  We have worked closely in the past with the local police, the RSPCA, CFS crew and others in the rescue, treatment and rehoming of such cases.  One case involved 4 kittens wrapped in a cardboard box and thrown down a mineshaft - luckily the kittens were heard, rescued by the CFS, then treated by us until healthy and then adopted out.

Many of the adoption kittens need some tender loving care, vet treatment and "feeding up" until they are ready for adoption.  Vets and nurses love and cuddle them, take them home, raise them, and some kittens when tiny are even bottle fed every few hours until they are older and able to fend for themselves.  As you can see, we are very passionate about this cause, and incredibly fond of such kittens !!

We receive great support for our Pet Adoption Programme, with the local newspaper (YP Country Times) publishing a photo and paragraph when an adoptee is ready for a new home.  Pfizer donate Revolution flea and worming products, Royal Canin donated a kitten adoption cage, and donate a bag of kitten premium food with every kitten adopted.  IGA Minlaton have also kindly donated cat food for our welfare and charity cases.  "Cheap as Chips" also donated a recovery cage for the kittens after being desexed.  Members of the public send letters of support and we receive many comments on our programme.

Our adoption package ensures all kittens are vet checked, quarantined for 10 days, ringworm screened, worm and flea treated, desexed and receive their first vaccinations before adoption.  A full kitten pack is sent home with new owners, together with the Royal Canin bag of food.

The adoption fees allow us to continue treatment and desexing of charity cases, and enables us to continue our Pet Adoption Programme.   The donation also illustrates to us that the new owners are commited to having their pet as part of their family longterm, and are willing to commit to ongoing love, shelter and food requirements as well as ongoing healthcare for a long and happy life together.
